John Lober Homes: They dot the landscape along I-29 corridor.Back
If you travel with any frequency along the I-29 corridor, say from N.W. 56th Street to KCI Airport, you will see home building occurring at a brisk pace.
You will also see homes of a little different caliber. They will, in all likelihood, be homes built by John Lober.
John Lober Homes are synonymous with the corridor.
"If you see a John Lober home being built, and someone asks what the finished home might look like, a finished home can be found pretty close by," said Lori Lober, Lober's wife, who is marketing and design strategist for Provence Homes, Inc. by John Lober founded in 1995. "We stay close to the I-29 corridor, which gives us a chance to develop a sort of rambling showcase for our homes."
Lober builds 25 to 30 homes a year, which are tailored to a special market mix of buyers.
"Many of our homes are geared for the young and upwardly mobile buyers that want smaller homes with more quality," she said. "We try to emphasize quality from start to finish, which includes a lot more attention to detail and making better use of space."
John Lober likes to work close to his buyers, and that's why he keeps his building projects close to the corridor.
"I like to be accessible," said Lober, a Certified Graduate Builder. "I like to be available to answer questions for my customers in case they have questions or are considering a design change. I like the one-on-one contact."
Lober turned down an offer to build a large home in Liberty so he could stay close to his home market.
Lober has been a homebuilder for more than 18 years, and has learned the business from the bottom up.
Lori Lober was a real estate broker in the 1980s, and is a member of the Institute of Residential Marketing. She has served as a judge for the National Home Builders Association and judges key aspects of housing developments in three or four major markets a year.
From that experience she picks up unique ideas that are often incorporated in the design of John Lober Homes.
John Lober Homes are generally priced from $175,000 and up. The Lober's believe that going lower than $175,000 would compromise the quality they want in their products.
This unique mix of talent of John and Lori Lober has paid off. For two years, they were recognized as the "Best Builder/Marketer" in Kansas City and received the Home Builders Associations Metropolitan Award for Marketing Excellence. In April, Lori Lober received an award as the "Best New Home Marketer in Kansas City."
Their model home in Hunter's Ridge won "Best Interior Merchandising" in Kansas City for its price category.
John Lober is currently building homes in Riss Lake, Hunter's Ridge, Hidden Ridge, River Hills Estates and Tiffany Greens. He will also be building homes around the National Golf Club of Kansas City.
